Who We Are

Our History

Hindsight. Insight. Foresight.

Within a relatively short time span, Cup of Salvation Deliverance Church and Ministries, Inc. (CSDC) has grown to be a spiritual force in our community.  CSDC was born in the heart of its founding pastor, Apostle Dr. Johnny Holloway in 1992, but it did not officially open its doors until March 2, 1996.  The name “Cup of Salvation” was derived from Psalm 116-13 which says “I will take the cup of salvation and call upon the name of the Lord.”

For the first few weeks, the eight members met at the Hampton Inn on Hillandale Road.  After a few months, the church moved to North Point Plaza on Guess Road where the congregation prayed that God would expand their horizons.  God moved, and so did the church, and on September 7, 1997, the first service at this location, 1020 Highway 70 East, Durham, NC was held.  It is here that the church was first referred to as “The Cup,” an endearment probably attributed to one of the early teenage members.

Cup of Salvation has a rich history as a territorial, last days, apostolic ministry of warfare and deliverance.  On January 26, 2019, Apostle Johnny Holloway retired and Pastor Versal  Mason, Jr. become the Senior Pastor of the Cup, so new history is currently being written.  While some things have changed, much remains the same.   We remain territorial in that we openly claim this region for God and we are willing to submit ourselves to His will and subject ourselves to His Spirit so that this region will be won for God.  We are a last days ministry in that we firmly believe that Jesus may return at any time.  Our nature is apostolic in that, not only will we be ready for His imminent appearance, but we will have the fruit of our obedience to present to Him when He returns.  Our primary purpose is to wage war for God’s people and to establish this ministry as a fortress of deliverance for the region.

Our mission is to “Reach them, Teach them and Set them free.”  Our intent is to take the City of Durham and the surrounding area from the grip of sin, despair and oppression and convert it into a city that loves and serves The Most High God. We know that we are not alone in this move of God, but we fully intend to be at the forefront.  This is a ministry of tenacity and focus; we cannot be defeated and we will not quit.  May God continue to bless this ministry as we obey His will.

We invite you to join the ministry today and get in where you fit in, so that God might use your gift to be a blessing to His Kingdom.
